A good reader learns a lot about the characters in their story. They're able to tell what a character looks like, what they say, what they do, and what they think, and then take it a step further to draw conclusions about who that character is. A good reader does this throughout the story, and then is able to talk about the growth of their character throughout.
When looking at the character in a story, a student should think about the following:
1. What does the character look like? 2. What does the character say? 3. What does the character think? 4. What are the character's actions? 5. What do other characters say, think, and feel ABOUT that character? |
