A child who has a parent, grandparent, older sibling, or family friend who sits down to read with them each day is already ahead of the game. Listening to reading is a powerful way for a child to learn fluency, expression, and questioning. They watch it being modeled and then put it practice themselves. This is also a good way to get a reluctant reader to find what interests them and move onto reading themselves!
